Twenty years is a significant milestone for any business, especially in an industry that has changed as much as telecommunications.

When Telair was founded in 2006, Australian businesses had limited choice. The market was dominated by a handful of major carriers, and customer service often felt like an afterthought. Our founder, Edward Wenman, believed there was a better way. His vision was simple: build an independent telecommunications company that combined enterprise-grade infrastructure with genuinely local, responsive support.

Two decades later, that vision has grown into one of Australia’s leading independent telecommunications providers. Today, Telair supports businesses across the country with a national network, carrier-grade infrastructure and a customer-first approach that remains at the heart of everything we do.

Built on strong foundations

In telecommunications, reputation isn’t built on clever marketing. It’s built on reliability.

Over the past 20 years, Telair has invested heavily in creating a resilient national network with points of interconnect across every major Australian capital city. The network is designed with redundancy and carrier diversity to ensure customers stay connected when it matters most.

One achievement we’re particularly proud of is that, in 20 years of operation, Telair has never experienced a loss of connectivity to one of its points of interconnect.

Rather than relying on a single carrier, we work across multiple networks, allowing us to recommend the best solution for each customer instead of forcing a one-size-fits-all approach.

Service that puts people first

Reliable technology is only part of the equation. Great support matters just as much.

From day one, Telair has focused on providing Australian-based customer service, with no offshore call centres. When customers need help, they speak with people who understand the technology and are empowered to solve problems quickly.

That commitment is reflected throughout the business. We maintain a five-to-one customer support-to-sales ratio and answer calls in an average of just 20 seconds.

It’s an investment in service that has helped build long-term relationships with customers and partners alike.

Growing alongside our customers

Over the years, Telair has continued to evolve alongside the businesses we support.
Today, the Telair Group includes:

  • Telair – delivering business telecommunications solutions.
  • Telair Wholesale – supporting managed service providers and technology partners.
  • MyOwn Tel – providing telecommunications services for residential customers.

More recently, we’ve expanded into managed IT services, helping businesses with endpoint security, monitoring, cybersecurity and fully managed IT support.

We’re also continuing to invest in the future. Telair is a foundation customer of SUBCO’s Sydney–Melbourne–Adelaide–Perth (SMAP) HyperCable, Australia’s largest transcontinental capacity upgrade in almost 25 years. This investment strengthens network resilience and ensures we’re well positioned to support customers for many years to come.
